Accommodation and lunches
The College provides accommodation on campus in student style single rooms, equipped with a bed, bedding, towels, a desk and a wardrobe. Showers / toilets are shared. Please bring indoor shoes as the houses are shoe-free, a torch as the campus is furnished with as little artificial light as possible, and warm clothing as the country air can be cold!
If you prefer, you can arrange your own accommodation.
We are unable to organise accommodation for families, but we have a list of housing agents who may be able to help you.
The college provides lunches from Monday to Friday for all students staying on campus. During the breaks you can buy your refreshments at the café at Emerson. All student houses have simple kitchens where you can prepare your own meals at weekends, breakfasts and suppers during the week.
We strongly recommend that you book lunches (Monday to Friday) at the college! Lunch is our main meal where students, volunteers and staff spend time together. For more information on our meals look at our website http://www.emerson.org.uk/catering12. During half term the college will provide lunches; missed meals can not be refunded.
Please note that you don’t have the use of your bedroom during the holidays. If you require a room outside term dates, please inform Reception as soon as possible. There is no guarantee that Emerson will be able to accommodate you during the holidays. The extra nights will be charged in addition to your term time accommodation costs.
The room deposit of £100 will be refunded at the end of your stay if there is no damage in your room.
Once you are accepted onto the course you can book your room and lunches online at
http://www.emerson.org.uk/calendar where you find different options to book for.
Introduction to the college and Community tasks
We will show you round the campus, introduce you to community tasks and give you time to settle during the first few days of your stay. In order to help you settle in we will provide you with Sunday supper and all meals on Monday.
Emerson College is a community and we require all students to spend around 3-4 hours per week with house keeping and some work. Typical tasks will be: cleaning of general areas in your student house, washing up after lunch, leaf racking day or other work on the estate and kitchen.
